Full-time Lecturer in Health Sciences
We invite broadly-trained biological and medical anthropologists to consider the following opportunity. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with the ability to teach anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and/or pathology.
The School of Health Sciences in the College of Sciences and Health Professions at Cleveland State University is seeking to fill a nine-month lecturer position (non-tenure track, annually renewable) to contribute to instruction in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) and the Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) Programs. Opportunities to teach in the summer may be available depending upon programmatic needs. The School houses seven programs: BSHS/MSHS, Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Public Health, Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology and Master of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology. We offer our students numerous opportunities to participate in faculty research, community service, and experiential learning.
Minimum qualifications: An earned master’s degree by July 1, 2019, in a health related field with two years of relevant professional experience; strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and work as part of a team; evidence of potential in teaching and service; clinical health science, public health, health research and/or health education content expertise needed to teach core courses in the BSHS Program and cross-listed undergraduate/graduate courses in the MSHS.
Preferred qualifications: An earned doctoral degree by July 1, 2019 in a health related field; record of teaching and service; experience in health care; current experience in teaching, supervising and advising students of various cultural backgrounds, including backgrounds distinctly different from one’s own, in one or more of the following areas: healthcare issues/policies, evidence-based practice, health coaching, leadership, program development and evaluation, and health disparities; experience in educational technology and distance learning; the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with the ability to teach anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and/or pathology.
