AABA 2024 Los Angeles FAQs
What is the COVID policy?
Vaccination and up-to-date boosters will be required to attend AABA 2024. Please reach out to AABA President Leslea Hlusko to discuss criteria for exceptions or concerns you have about this policy. Read the full policy here.
When are poster presentations?
Contributed posters will be presented on Thursday or Saturday. Each day, all posters will be up in the poster hall from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Poster presenters will stand by their posters from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Even posters will present from 5:00-6:00 PM, odd posters will present from 6:00-7:00 PM.
How will online-only presentations work?
Both in-person and online-only presenters will upload a PDF file of their poster and/or a video recording of their presentation to our online platform. All attendees (in-person and online) will be able to view the uploaded materials on the virtual platform.
The online-only presentations in 2024 will be different from previous years: there will be no live, interactive virtual sessions. Only the PDF file or recording will be available to attendees for asynchronous viewing. [Note that there is one exception to this: presenters in the “The Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Biological Anthropology and Related Subfields” invited symposium will engage in a live, virtual session.]
This change in the online presentation options results from the feedback AABA obtained from Reno conference attendees via the “Feedback on AABA virtual conference events” survey.
What components will be virtual or hybrid?
We plan to live-stream all Invited Podium Symposia, the Annual Business Meeting, the Presidential Panel, and two workshops.
