Anatomy Teaching Faculty

The Academic Affairs Department at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is hiring a teaching faculty in human anatomy. The candidate will work as part of the anatomy teaching team that is responsible for teaching dissection-based human anatomy to medical, physical therapy, physician assistant, and occupational therapy students as part of rigorous, graduate-level health professions programs. Our collaborative instructional team is committed to excellence in student-centered teaching. We value creative and active instruction through engaging lectures, active teaching in the dissection laboratory, well-designed assessments, and imaginative learning activities.

Responsibilities
– Provide in-person instruction in lectures and dissection-based human anatomy labs; supervise and instruct independent study / advanced dissection students; develop and grade formative and summative assessments; provide general course administration including grading, as well as training and supervising instructional aides.
– Create and maintain instructional materials for all courses, including e-textbooks, computer-based modules, instructional videos, photo atlases, and prosected human cadaver specimens.

Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

Required: Ph.D. or other terminal degree required related to anatomy or similar field of study. Prior experience teaching university or graduate-level anatomy, including gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and/or embryology.

Preferred: Teaching experience in lab, small group, and lecture settings as well as dissection experience in a human cadaver lab. Documented excellence in the teaching of dissection-based human anatomy. Understanding of the principles of effective and inclusive instruction and course design.
