Assistant and Associate Professor in Gross Anatomy and Embryology

Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking candidates for two full time faculty positions in Gross Anatomy and Embryology for its Department of Basic Sciences, one at the Assistant and one at the Associate Professor level. These positions are 12 month appointments with primary teaching responsibilities and opportunities to conduct original research/scholarly activities.

Broad Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching gross anatomy/embryology in Touro University Nevada’s Osteopathic Medicine and Allied Health Programs (Occupational Therapy(OT), Physician Assistant (PA), Physical Therapy (PT), Master of Medical Health Sciences (MHS)) as required. Faculty members are encouraged to conduct original research/scholarly activities and pursue extramural funding in their areas of interest. All Department of Basic Sciences Faculty are expected to contribute to institutional service activities. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Specific Responsibilities:
The major responsibilities of Anatomy and Embryology faculty, include the following:
• Provide lectures and dissection based laboratories in gross anatomy for DO, PA and other Allied Health students
• Provide lectures and laboratories in embryology for DO and Allied Health students
• Oversee/perform prosections for courses in anatomy.

Minimum Requirements:
• Candidates should have substantial teaching experience in cadaver based Gross Anatomy and Embryology courses.
• US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
• An advanced degree in health related sciences (M.D., Ph.D., D.O.)
• Evidence of productivity in research or other scholarly activities

Preference will be given to candidates with:
• Substantial teaching experience in anatomy and embryology
• Experience in teaching osteopathic medical, allied health and graduate students
• An exemplary record of research, extramural funding, and publication

Core Competencies:
• Teaching gross anatomy at a medical school level with an emphasis on clinical correlations
• Teaching embryology at a medical school level
• Practical knowledge of teaching both dissection and prosection courses in anatomy
• Teaching gross anatomy to allied health students (OT, PT)
