Assistant Professor Primatology

The Department of Anthropology and Museum Studies, in the College of the Sciences at Central Washington University, Ellensburg, Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track primatologist at the assistant professor level, beginning Fall Quarter 2016.

The new faculty member will participate in the interdisciplinary Primate Behavior and Ecology program (graduate and undergraduate degrees). S/he will be responsible for several aspects of the anthropology curriculum, such as teaching graduate/undergraduate classes in primatology, general education classes in introductory-level biological anthropology, and internship development and supervision. Applicants must describe their research in primatology and how students could be incorporated into it and will demonstrate commitment to working in a four-field anthropology department. Ph.D. in hand at time of application.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1) Awarded PhD in Anthropology or related field, with post-secondary coursework in anthropology documented on transcripts
2) Evidence on CV of research, teaching, and/or training in primatology
3) Prior teaching of at least one course as instructor of record
4) Evidence on CV of active research in primatology in last 5 years, as evidenced by publications, grants, and/or fieldwork

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1) Demonstrated excellence in teaching documented through student evaluations and/or peer evaluations of instruction
2) Well-articulated teaching philosophy
3) Past experience teaching introduction to biological anthropology or its equivalent
4) Past experience teaching courses in primatology, evolutionary theory, and primate culture
5) Past experience developing and/or supervising internships
6) Research focus on primate conservation
7) Well-articulated commitment to working in a four-field anthropology department
8) Other relevant experiences or qualifications documented on CV
