Visiting Assistant Professor, Biological Anthropology

The Applied Forensic Sciences Department at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA invites applications for a one-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2016-2017 academic year, with an opportunity to apply for a more permanent position the following year, pending budgetary approval. The candidate should have a strong background in biological anthropology, although applications from a variety of subdisciplines (e.g., forensic anthropology, bioarchaeology, paleoanthropology, etc.) will be considered. The candidate would be expected to teach 5-6 undergraduate/graduate bioanthropology courses during the year, advise student research, and continue to pursue their own research interests. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with departmental faculty on forensic anthropology/archaeology cases. Long-term, the department is looking for someone who can provide additional out-of-the classroom experiences to students, such as research and field school opportunities. Mercyhurst prides itself on its faculty engagement with students, thus preference will be given to candidates with evidence of a strong teaching background and positive student interactions. Candidates must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment.
