Primate Evolutionary Biomechanics Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Washington, Seattle, WA
The University of Washington (Seattle, WA) invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral research associate (Job Class 0148), with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Prof. Patricia Kramer, Associate Professor of Anthropology. The position is 100% FTE for 12 months and offers a competitive salary plus benefits. Review of applications will begin immediately with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2016 (negotiable).
Responsibilities:
1) The candidate, upon consultation with Prof. Kramer, will propose a biomechanics research problem that is relevant to the evolution of locomotion in Primates and that can be largely addressed in a two-year time frame and carry out this research program.
2) The candidate will lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Primate Evolutionary Biomechanics Lab, including extensive mentoring of undergraduate research students.
3) Collaborative research, discussion, and presentation of research results and promotion of an inclusive and equitable research environment is expected.
Minimum/Basic Qualification Required:
By the start date, all elements of the PhD, or foreign equivalent, including the dissertation, must be completed and the degree conferred in Anthropology or similar field, with an emphasis on paleobiological questions preferred.
Additional Required Qualifications:
• PhD must be conferred less than six years prior to start date
• Research interests that are appropriate to the Primate Evolutionary Biomechanics Lab
• Demonstrated ability to publish in English-language peer-reviewed journals
• Experience with, or interest in developing expertise in, the finite element method
