Visiting Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at Dickinson College invites applications for the position of a one-year visiting assistant professor of biological anthropology for the 2017-18 academic year. We seek a broadly trained biological anthropologist with an active research agenda and a commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduates. PhD or ABD required. Teaching responsibilities involve five courses per academic year to include lecture and laboratory sections of Introduction to Biological Anthropology and an advanced undergraduate course on human evolution. A deep appreciation of the value of the liberal arts and the ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body are two important characteristics of the successful candidate.
Dickinson’s Department of Anthropology and Archaeology has 22 undergraduate anthropology majors and 23 archaeology majors. Our six full-time faculty have research interests in cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and archaeology and conduct research in North America, South America, East Asia, East Africa, and the Mediterranean. We emphasize student engagement in research through our methods courses, our three laboratories—biological anthropology, environmental archaeology, and classical archaeology—and department-run field schools in cultural anthropology and archaeology.
