Assistant/Association/Professor – Anatomy

The College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University (MSUCOM) seeks an enthusiastic, experienced medical educator with expertise in teaching human gross anatomy to join a multi-disciplinary teaching team delivering quality instruction in the anatomical sciences to medical students. It is expected that in addition to assisting with teaching and curriculum development, the successful candidate will assume leadership of its longitudinal preclerkship medical gross anatomy program, which includes a prosection-based human gross anatomy course utilizing a flipped-classroom approach. This position includes opportunities for administrative duties and scholarly research related to medical imaging, clinical anatomy and educational programs. This is a 12-month, fixed-term (non-tenure-track) faculty position within the Division of Human Anatomy, Department of Radiology. The position is based in East Lansing, with occasional travel to satellite educational sites (Detroit, Macomb County) expected. Rank of appointment (assistant, associate or full professor) and starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD or equivalent terminal degree in any human morphology-related basic science discipline, physical anthropology, kinesiology, or a health professional degree (e.g., DO, MD, DDS, DVM, DPT).
• At least five years of anatomy classroom and laboratory instruction at the medical school level with dissection experience and documented evidence of exceptional teaching skills.
• Experience in, and strong commitment to, innovative approaches to education and learning.
• Demonstrated ability to work productively, collegially and effectively within a diverse student and faculty environment.
• Credentials sufficient to merit appointment at the academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher in the fixed-term track according to the policies of the Michigan State University.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Leadership in directing a major medical school course.
• Knowledge of medical imaging techniques and experience with ultrasound technology and interpretation.
• Experience in teaching other anatomical sciences.
• Formal training or experience in educational theory and/or evaluation and assessment.
• A record of scholarly activity in medical education.
