The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for a Behavioral Scientist (Program Director) position in the Cultural Anthropology Program, within the Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences (BCS), Directorate for Social, Behavioral & Economic Sciences (SBE), Alexandria, VA.
The Cultural Anthropology Program supports basic scientific research about the causes, consequences, and complexities of human social and cultural variability. Cultural anthropologists analyze human social and cultural behavior holistically. This integrated approach makes anthropology a valuable research tool for understanding the modern world. The Program encourages innovative research that contributes to building spatially and temporally specific theory that extends understanding beyond individual case studies. Applicants for the Program Director position should be able to demonstrate knowledge of methods and theories from a range of anthropological subfields committed to empirically-grounded research. The Program values convergent research that integrates knowledge and techniques from across multiple scientific fields.
