Penn State University: Associate/ Full Professor in Human Ecology

The Department of Anthropology (www.anthro.psu.edu/) at The Pennsylvania State University, which has a strong tradition of scientific approaches to research on human adaptability, seeks a mid-career faculty member to start in August 2015 to help build a new departmental program in Human Ecology. Our faculty recently earned the highest overall ranking in the National Research Council’s evaluation of Anthropology programs in the US. We seek a candidate at the Associate or early Professor level with a proven record of grant-supported research and field projects focusing on ecological studies of human populations. The candidate will take a leading role in developing the department’s Human Ecology initiative, will teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and is expected to build synergistic relations with existing Penn State programs such as the Population Research Institute (www.pop.psu.edu), Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Environment (agsci.psu.edu/hdnre), Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (www.psiee.psu.edu), the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences (www.huck.psu.edu/research), and the planned Ecology Institute and Global Studies program.
