Assistant Professor in Anatomy and Vertebrate Evolutionary Biology

The Department of Biological Sciences at Marshall University is accepting applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in anatomy and vertebrate evolutionary biology. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and establish an active, externally-funded research program including undergraduates and MS students. The primary teaching responsibility will be a service course in Human Anatomy for nursing and other pre-professional undergraduates, without cadaver dissection. The desired area of research is broadly defined as vertebrate evolutionary biology. The department has existing strengths in vertebrate paleontology, herpetology, mammalogy, and analytical paleobiology. The successful applicant may either add to or complement these strengths.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a PhD in biology or a closely-related discipline, excellent teaching and communication skills, and experience in teaching human anatomy. A record of research publications and active pursuit of external funding is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
