Assistant/Associate Professor

The Center for Anatomical Sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth invites applications for a full-time faculty position that focuses on teaching human gross anatomy and training clinicians in surgical skills.

The Center for Anatomical Sciences (www.unthsc.edu/anatomicalsciences) is dedicated to educate and train medical, graduate, and allied health students in the anatomical sciences at UNT Health Science Center. The CAS faculty have extensive backgrounds in anatomy, biological anthropology, histology, neuroanatomy, and embryology, in addition to education and K-12 science outreach. The CAS graduate programs (MS and Ph.D.) provide opportunities for our graduate students to pursue research in structural anatomy and biomechanics as applied to biological anthropology, rehabilitation sciences, orthopedics, and/or the scholarship of anatomy education. The CAS is also a major provider of quality outreach programs for students and teachers in the Fort Worth ISD and surrounding Tarrant county area. Our center maintains a state-of-the-art human anatomy laboratory as well as a bioskills research facility for research, education, and the training of local residents and clinicians in new ultrasound, orthopedic, and surgical techniques.

The successful applicant(s) must have a Ph.D., D.O., or M.D. equivalent degree, and must have at least 5-6 years of teaching experience in human gross anatomy with cadaver dissection. Current funding is not a requirement; however, candidates will be expected to initiate and lead research projects in human anatomy (and/or related fields), anatomical education, and/or science educational outreach programs. Other subjects that the applicant might be requested to teach include medical histology, embryology, radiology/ultrasound, and/or neuroanatomy. The anatomical sciences at UNTHSC are team-taught, and the applicants will be expected to contribute to both lecture and laboratory instruction in these disciplines. Other duties include taking on and advising graduate students in the Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences program, preparing quality human cadaver prosections for use in anatomy programs at UNTHSC, and working with other anatomy faculty in a variety of science outreach programs.

Applicants should send their CV, cover letter highlighting qualifications, teaching philosophy, and research interests, and names of two references to: Dr. Rustin E.
