Lecturer in Palaeoanthropology and Human Evolution

The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We invite applications for a Lecturer in Palaeoanthropology and Human Evolution with particular emphasis on interpreting the palaeontological record of hominin evolution from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The successful candidates will be expected to carry out high-quality research and contribute to teaching for undergraduate introductory courses in evolutionary anthropology, to teach Undergraduate second/third year and Taught Graduate (Masters) courses in palaeoanthropology and to contribute to teaching research methods at all levels. There is also the possibility of developing an advanced optional module in the appointee’s area of specialisation.

Key Requirements:
The successful candidate will be a promising researcher with a proven record of ability to conduct high quality research which is reflected in the authorship of high quality publications or other outputs in palaeoanthropology and human evolution, and areas of significance to the interpretation of the hominin fossil record. They should also possess the ability to teach introductory evolutionary anthropology and specialist courses in palaeoanthropology and human evolution at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have strong knowledge of quantitative methods.
