Western University: Limited Term Faculty Position in Clinical Anatomy

The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology at Western University invites applications for a limited-term (up to 5 years), teaching-intensive faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Clinical Anatomy. Applications will be considered from qualified applicants with a PhD, MD or DDS (or equivalent) degree, with a strong background and demonstrated excellence in both classroom and laboratory teaching of gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroanatomy and pedagogy. Experience with cadaveric and human histology laboratory teaching is essential, and experience with course development would be an asset. Candidates will be expected to be able to integrate the basic anatomical sciences into a clinical context, coordinate graduate level courses, and instruct in upper year medical and dental education courses. In addition, the candidate will establish working relationships with clinicians to develop teaching and research initiatives. The successful candidate will help develop graduate research projects in clinical anatomy that complement existing research strengths in the Department, and will be expected to actively engage in collaborative and/or independent research activities related to clinical anatomy and/or the anatomical sciences. This position will start July 1, 2018 and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology is a multidisciplinary basic science department within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. The Department fosters world-class research and teaching in Clinical Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Neurobiology with productive academic and research collaborations with other Departments at Western, affiliated hospitals and research institutes in London and worldwide. Current areas of research focus in Clinical Anatomy include education scholarship and clinically-applied anatomical research. The Department has a strong graduate program consisting of both Clinical Anatomy and Biological Research streams and an innovative undergraduate Honours program in Medical Cell Biology. In addition, the Department provides teaching to medical, dental, science and health science students through undergraduate programs in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the Faculties of Science and Health Sciences.
