The Center for Anatomical Sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth invites applications for a full-time faculty position that focuses on teaching human gross anatomy and training clinicians and residents in clinical/surgical skills. The successful applicant(s) must have a M.S., Ph.D., D.O., or M.D. equivalent degree, and must have at least 5-6 years of teaching experience in human gross anatomy with cadaver dissection. The candidate must also have significant training in surgical skills workshops and courses for continuing medical education. Current funding is not a requirement; however, candidates will be expected to initiate and lead research projects in clinical human anatomy and/or related fields, anatomical education, and/or science educational outreach programs. Applicants will be expected to help teach in the DO, PA, PT, Graduate Medical Science, and MD (starts in 2019) anatomy programs. Subjects that the applicant might be requested to teach are medical anatomy, histology, embryology, radiology/ultrasound, and/or neuroanatomy. The anatomical sciences at UNTHSC are team-taught, and the applicants will be expected to contribute to both lecture and laboratory instruction in these disciplines. The successful applicant will become the BioSkills Laboratory Clinical Coordinator and will coordinate clinical training activities with the Willed Body Program staff for training students, residents, and clinicians in that facility. Other duties include mentoring graduate students in the Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences graduate program, preparing quality human cadaver prosections for use in anatomy programs at UNTHSC, and working with other anatomy faculty in a variety of science outreach programs. The Center for Anatomical Sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is located in the prestigious cultural district of Fort Worth, TX. Our mission is to offer quality educational activities, and to create scholarship in the anatomical sciences and allied health fields by providing students with dissection and prosection-based anatomy courses. The Center is also home to the BioSkills Laboratory that host clinical training activities for health care professionals from all over the U.S. These activities include training in orthopedic surgeries, ultrasound guided pain management and joint injection, spine and back pain management, and numerous other surgical training events. Training activities in the BioSkills Laboratory are designed for students, residents, clinicians, and a variety of other healthcare personnel. The Center is also home to the Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences graduate program that prepares graduate students to teach anatomy at medical schools, health science centers, and undergraduate institutions.
