Post-Doctoral Associate

A position is available for a post-doc associate at New York University (NYU) to work on projects related to the fully-pedigreed Cayo Santiago rhesus macaque population with a focus on soft- and hard-tissue morphology. The post-doc will be based in the Anthropology Department of NYU in New York City. However, duties also require extended visits to Puerto Rico to measure the soft tissues of hundreds of live individuals while trapped, and thousands of individuals in the skeletal collection, which has been developing since 1971. NY based duties include the building of integrative datasets that combine genetic, behavioral, morphological and life-history data. Analyses will integrate the soft- and hard-tissue measurements, and investigate their heritability and relationship to reproductive success via quantitative genetic approaches. The post-doc will also contribute significant time to the organization and curation of the NY portion of the Cayo Santiago skeletal collection, and will have input into the direction of the research undertaken according to their own interests.

Applicants with backgrounds in evolutionary studies of primate (including human) or mammalian morphology are encouraged to apply. Strong osteological training coupled with quantitative skills will be an advantage. Experience in osteology is required, and experience with gross anatomy, quantitative genetics, and curating systematic collections are all advantageous.

The post-doc will be paid a salary starting at $48,432 and will be eligible for NYU benefits. NYU is located in the Greenwich Village area of Manhattan.
