The Faculty of Science at the University of Tübingen, Department of Geological Sciences, Institute for Prehistory and Natural Archeology, announces the opening of new position:
Tenure-Track Professor for Archeo- and Paleogenetics
with a starting date as soon as possible.
The candidate should have extensive experience in Archaeo- and Paleogenetics with a focus on human genetics, paleopathology, archaeobotany or zooarchaeology, as well as experience in supervision, teaching and research.
In addition to international research activities and the establishment of a working group financed primarily by third-party funds, the candidate should show a willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation with other working groups at the University of Tübingen, and be an active part of the Senckenberg Center for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironmental (HEP) in Tübingen.
Required qualifications include an outstanding doctoral thesis in a pertinent field, recognizable potential for internationally acclaimed publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and third-party funding, as well as teaching experience.
The teaching commitment is about four semester hours per week. Independent research activities in the field of Archeo- and Paleogenetics are expected.
The position will be initially for four years as a W1 junior professorship in German public service. An extension of another two years is planned after a first positive evaluation. The appointment of the position as junior professor (W1) is linked to Tenure Track for the appointment to a full permanent (W3) professorship after an additional positive evaluation. If the final evaluation after six years is positive, this professorship will be upgraded to a full (W3) professorship with no re-advertising of the position. Applicants for a tenure-track professorship with a PhD from Tübingen must have changed universities after completing their doctorates or have worked in academia for at least two years somewhere other than the University of Tübingen.
