Tenure-track Assistant Professor – Health-oriented cultural anthropologist
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Missouri invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank starting August 2019.
We seek a health-oriented cultural anthropologist engaged in field and/or laboratory research in a present-day population who will contribute to the department’s focus on scientific approaches to the study of human adaptation, ecology, and evolution. Regional and methodological focus is open. Specific topics include, but are not limited to (listed in alphabetical order), addiction, behavioral ecology, chronic or infectious disease epidemiology, cultural practices associated with food preparation and consumption, ecology of human-microbe interactions, environmental and health policy, global health, nutrition and metabolism, and pollution and environmental degradation.
The successful candidate is expected to maintain an externally-funded and active research agenda leading to publication in leading peer-reviewed journals and student research opportunities, to be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to contribute to the university’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in anthropology or a closely related field, conferred by July 2019.
