Assistant Professor, Biological/Evolutionary Anthropology

The UB Department of Anthropology invites applications for a 10-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in biological/evolutionary anthropology to begin Fall 2019. The successful candidate will have an active research program in evolutionary and scientific approaches to the human condition, and be committed to excellence in teaching and student mentoring. We are interested in candidates with a demonstrated record of original scholarship, and who actively engage in field, laboratory or computationally-based research. The area of research interest and expertise is open, but preference will be given to candidates who apply quantitative or experimental approaches within an evolutionary theoretical framework, and whose work compliments and extends the existing research strengths within the department.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in anthropology or a related discipline at the time of hire. In their application, candidates should describe their ongoing and future research plans, and how their research program will provide learning opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. They should also provide a clear vision for how their research and teaching interests intersect with, build on, and complement existing activities in the department. Completed applications will be reviewed beginning January 25, 2019, and will continue until the position is filled.
