The Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences in the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in anatomy at the level of Lecturer. The position of Lecturer of Veterinary Anatomy will be dedicated 95% to instructional activities of the anatomy courses and 5% to department and college service activities. Veterinary anatomy is taught as two courses (one in the fall and one in the spring semester) in the first year DVM program. Finally, contribution to and/or development of applied anatomy-focused selectives (1-2 week short courses offered in the veterinary curriculum fall and spring) will be encouraged and there will be opportunity as time permits to participate in small group learning courses outside of the anatomy courses.
The successful candidate will have a DVM (or equivalent degree, e.g. BVSc, BVMS) and/or a PhD in an applied field of anatomy, with instructional experience. Applicants with a strong veterinary clinical practice background in disciplines that utilize clinically applied anatomy on a routine basis (for example, surgery, radiology, and sports medicine) and/or teaching experience in veterinary gross anatomy or a closely related applied discipline (for example, surgery or radiology) are encouraged to apply. Applicants with experience teaching microanatomy (histology), in addition to gross anatomy, will be highly preferred.
The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
