Faculty, Medical Educator
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) campus in Macon invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenured educator position in anatomical and developmental sciences. The successful candidate will principally teach human development to graduate and medical students and serve as a facilitator in an integrated medical curriculum that includes small and large group case-based learning.
For over 37 years, MUSM has focused on educating physicians and healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and medically underserved areas in Georgia. Emphasizing interactive and problem-based teaching strategies, our student-centered faculty provides a conceptual and practical foundation that equips graduates to be discerning consumers and innovative producers of knowledge across a variety of medical and community settings, as well as academic institutions. Through teaching, scholarship, and service, students and faculty work closely to have local, regional, national, and international impact.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will hold a terminal doctoral degree from an accredited institution and have strong evidence of teaching expertise in human development and gross anatomy. Experience with cadaveric dissection in health professions education and with interactive classroom learning strategies is preferred.
MUSM faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, to maintain scholarly productivity in medical education or biomedical sciences research, and to engage in university and community service activities. Individuals who are interested in a career dedicated to teaching and educational scholarship are encouraged to apply.
