Assistant Professor
The department of Anthropology and Middle Eastern Cultures (AMEC) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology with a focus in Forensic Anthropology and knowledge of bioarchaeology. The successful candidate will have a research focus in Forensic Anthropology and demonstrate a strong commitment to both graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Teaching responsibility is five courses per year, to include introductory, upper division, and graduate instruction, including Introduction to Forensic Anthropology and Human Origins and Variation. The candidate will also be expected to develop relationships with the medicolegal establishment of Mississippi to facilitate research and internship opportunities for students. A Diplomate from the American Board of Forensic Anthropology (DABFA) or progress towards this certification is preferred. Phi Beta Kappa membership is preferred.
AMEC is a dynamic, growing department offering an anthropology major and Middle Eastern studies minor, with an applied anthropology MA program. AMEC is housed within the Cobb Institute of Archaeology, and the successful candidate will be eligible to become a Senior Research Associate of the Cobb Institute. A strong, active research agenda with the potential for involving graduate students is crucial to this position as the candidate is expected to contribute to the applied M.A. archaeology/bioarchaeology track.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Basic qualifications: Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in Anthropology or closely related field. Ph.D. must be in hand by August 16th, 2021. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong research activity and an excellent record of teaching.
Position available: August 16th, 2021, with academic year beginning Fall 2021.
