Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Anthropology

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work at TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in physical anthropology, to begin September 1, 2015. Candidates must have the PhD by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates whose research area complements the existing strengths of the department in the Indigenous Americas and who have an active field research agenda. Research focus is open, but preference will be given to candidates that have a successful research agenda specific to bio-archaeological issues. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum by teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in biological anthropology within an evolutionary framework including introduction to physical anthropology, human evolution, human variation, human osteology, paleopathology, and bio-archaeology. In addition, the new colleague will be expected to develop courses related to his or her specializations and to develop a record of seeking outside research funding while at TTU. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. The Anthropology Program within the Department of SASW consists of five full-time tenured and tenure-track anthropologists in a three-field program that offers both Bachelors and Masters Degrees. We also offer a forensic concentration for undergraduate majors, and this candidate will be asked to contribute to this concentration. TTU is a major research university of over 30,000 students.
