The Department of Human Evolutionary Biology seeks applications for a College Fellow in Human Evolutionary Biology, specializing in cultural evolution, behavioral ecology, energetics, life history, human paleobiology and/or primatology.

The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2022. The College Fellow will have teaching responsibilities, with 25 percent of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. Teaching duties will include teaching three courses or their equivalents. This will likely involve some combination of a lecture course, undergraduate seminar, one or more sections of sophomore tutorial, and section teaching in a department foundation course. The Fellow might also advise and evaluate senior honors theses.

Candidates are required to have a doctorate of an equivalent terminal degree by the expected start-date. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent on performance, position availability, curricular need, and divisional dean authorization.

Required application documents include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, sample syllabus, and three letters of reference. Complete applications, including at least three letters of reference, should be submitted by April 30, 2022.

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in human evolutionary biology or related discipline required by the expected start-date and must have been received no earlier than 2018.

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desirable.

Special Instructions: Detailed requirements, position information, and a link to the online application are available at https://facultyresources.fas.harvard.edu/college-fellows-program.

For letters of reference, please provide in the online application the names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted.
