Pooled Recruitment – Temporary Lecturer in Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified, part-time, temporary lecturers to teach various courses in sociocultural anthropology, archaeology, and biological anthropology for potential openings. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue until department needs are satisfied. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department and may include our ANTH 2 Introductory Cultural Anthropology course of 550 students or ANTH 5 Introductory Biological Anthropology of 400 students.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Anthropology or closely related field and a minimum of one quarter demonstrated teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates holding a current PhD in Anthropology.
The ideal finalist will have: Training in Sociocultural, Biological, or Archaeological Anthropology; expertise and ability to teach in more than one of these is preferred. More than 1 quarter additional teaching experience is preferred. Experience with learning management webpages based on Moodle, such as the Gauchospace platform used at UCSB. Experience teaching large (100+) classes. Experience working with Teaching Assistants.
