Anatomy Faculty
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is actively searching for a highly qualified individual to fill a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in medical Gross Anatomy. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Anatomy or a related field. Experience teaching medical histology and/or medical imaging are beneficial, but not required. A commitment to excellence in teaching is required, as this is the primary responsibility of this position. Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship and/or three years of equivalent experience are a plus. Applicants with an equivalent combination of relevant and recent experience, education, and/or training that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to actively engage in research or other scholarly activity and provide service to WVSOM.
WVSOM utilizes a Patient Presentation Based Curriculum in which all disciplines are integrated, employing a variety of teaching formats and modalities including lecture, lab, small groups, and Team-Based Learning. The medical gross anatomy content at WVSOM is team-taught and fully integrated alongside clinical and other biomedical science material, where the successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively in the delivery of their content. Previous experience teaching anatomy to medical students using active learning strategies is a plus. Teaching facilities at WVSOM include a state-of-the-art anatomy teaching laboratory and cutting-edge lecture facilities, simulation center, multipurpose laboratory, and team-based learning room. Resources for gross anatomic education and research also include an active plastination facility.
The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct research or scholarly activity. Research facilities and research start-up funds are available. This position will be filled at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor commensurate with experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package and moving expenses.
