The aim is to investigate biomechanical strategies African great apes employ to arboreal locomotion. This project is based on a narrow and long-standing collaboration between PALEVOPRIM ( and the laboratory of biomechanics, RoBioss (UPR 3046 PPrime - Mechanical Engineering and Complex Mechanisms: and the zoological parc “La Vallée des Singes” ( This is a 16 months contract related to the following projects: HOMTECH (funded by the Agence Nationale pour la Recherche: and LocHoSiM (funded by the Région Nouvelle Aquitaine: We welcome scholars with a background either in biological anthropology, primatology, biomechanics or computer science. Applicants who have skills in motion capture/ analysis, programming (e.g. MATLAB, Python), and/or artificial intelligence will be particularly considered. Qualifications: A PhD or equivalent degree is required by the time of appointment.
