Assistant Professor of Medical Anthropology (Job Code 535)

William Paterson University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Anthropology effective fall 2015.

The department houses an undergraduate major in anthropology and actively supports the University’s innovative core curriculum and undergraduate programs in education and the health professions. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in medical anthropology with a strong background in interdisciplinary and biocultural approaches to health; specializations can include lifespan and aging, epidemiology, cross-cultural medical practices, and applied health programs in domestic and global communities. In addition to courses in medical anthropology, teaching responsibilities will include courses in introductory anthropology, University Core Curriculum courses focused on social justice, community engagement, and/or global perspectives, and courses that support programs in nursing, public health and other health professions. We are seeking applicants with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, to pursuing an active research agenda, and to actively engage in service to the department and the campus community.

Ph.D. in Anthropology with a specialization in medical anthropology and teaching experience required.
