Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology
The Anthropology Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology beginning fall semester 2024.
Applicants must have expertise in both bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology. We are searching for an anthropologically grounded biological anthropologist.

The candidate’s research agenda in bioarchaeology or skeletal biology should be demonstrated by funding, publications, presentations, and projects. Forensic anthropological expertise should be evident by means of previous forensic anthropological casework, demonstrating an ability to apply osteological and forensic skills to law enforcement cases (e.g., forensic casework, field recovery, authoring case reports, expert witness). The successful candidate will be able to teach a 2-2 course load of introductory courses in biological anthropology, elective undergraduate courses, and graduate courses in areas of specialization.
The successful candidate should be willing to assist in supervising/overseeing forensic anthropology casework for southern Nevada at the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with a plan of action to recruit and mentor graduate students in the department’s MA and PhD program and to those who have a plan for obtaining external funding for research.
