The Center for Anatomical Sciences in the Department of Physiology and Anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health) in Fort Worth, TX invites applications for two (2) tenure-track or tenured faculty positions to join our growing team of interdisciplinary faculty in the anatomical sciences. We seek two outstanding, broadly-trained anatomists whose research programs will complement our existing strengths in biological anthropology, evolutionary biology, forensic sciences, biomechanics/functional morphology, and histology. While the research area is open, applicants with programs in postcranial biomechanics are particularly encouraged to apply. Research laboratory space and competitive start-up funds are available.
The Center encompasses 8,000 square feet of anatomy laboratories that support anatomical education, research, and outreach. The Center also houses dedicated research laboratories equipped for medical imaging analysis/morphometrics, forensic anthropology, thermoregulatory studies (environmental chamber), histology, and paleontological fossil preparation. Additional information about the Center for Anatomical Sciences is available at: www.unthsc.edu/anatomicalsciences.
The new hires will contribute to lecture and cadaver-based laboratory instruction (both dissection and prosection) of human gross anatomy courses for medical, physical therapy, physician assistant, and graduate students. Teaching experience in neuroanatomy, histology, and/or embryology is desirable but not required. Faculty may additionally develop graduate-level elective courses in their area of expertise. The hires will also be expected to mentor anatomy graduate students (MS, PhD).
Successful applicants will 1) have an active record of research and scholarship, 2) demonstrate a history or the potential of obtaining external funding, 3) be able to create research opportunities for anatomy graduate (MS/PhD) students, and 4) possess previous experience teaching dissection-based human gross anatomy. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026 (or earlier). Applicants will ideally have a PhD or equivalent degree in hand by this date but exceptional ABD candidates will be considered.
Applicants should email a cover letter, CV, and the names and contact information for three references to the Chair of the Anatomy Search Committee: Dr. Kate Lesciotto (anatomyjob@unthsc.edu). For full consideration, materials should be submitted by October 24, 2025 (positions will remain open until filled).
