The Center for the Advanced Study of Human Paleobiology (CASHP) at The George Washington University is offering a two-week online course in Human Evolutionary Anatomy.
This fast-paced course introduces undergraduate and postgraduate students to sought-after skills in human evolutionary anatomy research. Topics of the first week include: how to read a scientific paper quickly and effectively, create 3D models using photogrammetry, and use software programs like MeshLab, ImageJ and more. CASHP researchers make guest appearances to discuss their areas of expertise in alignment with the course content. In the second week, students will develop testable hypotheses, collect original data, and use R to conduct statistical analyses. The last day of the course covers careers in biological anthropology and includes tips on how to get into graduate school.
There are no prerequisites. This is a one credit class (ANTH 3991) and it is open to students from any institution. The course is expected to run 38 hours total, or 19 hours per week, including direct and indirect contact hours.
