The Department seeks an Instructor in Biological Anthropology with a specialization in paleoanthropology. The Instructor will be expected to teach 12 credit hours per semester with possible teaching release time for departmental service. This load will typically include two sections of introductory Human Evolution (4 credits each) and one upper division course to complement existing faculty strengths and fulfill student demand. This position is a nine-month full-time contract non-tenure track (NTT) and is renewable annually commencing August 26, 2016.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related discipline in hand at time of appointment. We seek a colleague with a strong interest in and commitment to undergraduate teaching and research. Teaching experience at a similar academic institution and a demonstrated record of facilitating undergraduate research is a plus.
The Department of Anthropology and Classical Studies in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences has five full-time faculty members (four tenure-track and one NTT) and offers an undergraduate B.A. degree in Anthropology, minors in Anthropology and in Classical Studies, and a Certificate in Field Archaeology. We have roughly 80-85 student majors. Traditional departmental strengths are in undergraduate research, applied, and experiential learning.
