The Shively Lab in Comparative Medicine is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Research Laboratory Technician II. Primary duties include clinical, behavioral, and cognitive data collection from nonhuman primates, scheduling, and data management.

Responsibilities include: animal handling of nonhuman primates, blood and CSF collection, data management, verification, and manipulation, and protocol writing.

The successful applicant will perform a variety of common and minimally complex tasks to advance a collaborative or independent research project, assist with managing the functional operation of the laboratory, and provide support to other personnel as needed. Good communication skills, the ability to work well with others as part of a team, and the ability to work independently are necessary. The position requires the ability to coordinate details of an experiment as well as anticipate and solve technical problems.

This position will be located at the Clarkson Campus. Funding is guaranteed full-time for 1 year (extensions contingent on funding). This position represents a fantastic opportunity for folks fresh out of undergrad and/or MS programs to gain first-hand experience in a laboratory research setting.

Education/Experience

1. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in biology, chemistry, zoology, psychology or other related science area is required. 2. Animal handling experience is desirable. 3. A working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint is desirable. 4. Research experience is desirable.
