AABA International Travel Support Pilot Program for Participants from Qualifying Countries
As AABA aims to increase the breadth of voices represented within our Association and in attendance at our annual meeting, we also recognize that the travel cost for many of these colleagues is prohibitively expensive.
In order to begin to address this situation, AABA announces a pilot program for the 2025 annual meeting in Baltimore that will fund the cost of international airfare between Baltimore and a Qualifying Country outside of Canada or the United States, as well as 4 nights of hotel accommodation at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel (room cost only, extra charges such as room service will not be paid for by AABA).
We have allocated funding that should support 10-12 attendees. Through this pilot program, we will gain a sense of the demand to determine feasibility for future years.
Information that will be requested on the application form:
- Full legal name on your passport
- Passport (issuing country, passport number, date of expiration)
- Type of permission you currently hold that allows you to enter the United States legally (e.g., visa; if chosen for this award, you will be asked to provide a scan or photograph of the document)
- Current residence or primary work address
- Telephone number (with country code)
- City and country from which you will be traveling to Baltimore
- Proposed dates for travel (departure and return)
- Reason that you want to attend the AABA conference (100-150 words)
For this program, awardees will work with a travel agency partnered with AABA to arrange their roundtrip airline ticket between the Qualifying Country from which they will be traveling and Baltimore. AABA will cover the full cost of the roundtrip airline ticket (economy class).
Details:
- Applicants must be traveling from a qualifying country.
- Travel will only be allowed as a roundtrip ticket between the qualifying country and Baltimore. The dates of travel need to be associated with the conference (March 12-15, 2025), but can be extended on either end if the applicant has other sources of financial support for an extended stay.
- Applicants with a visa to the United States (or citizenship) will be prioritized, given the short time-frame before the conference. If you are interested in applying for this program in the future, please pursue a visa to the US with enough time to work through the process. Contact the AABA Vice President for an invitation letter that can be used to support your application to your local US Embassy.
- Applicants DO NOT need to be giving a presentation at the conference in order to qualify for the program.
- Applications must be received before the close of abstract submissions (end of day, October 15, 2024).
