The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position to begin on August 1, 2027. The anticipated Distribution of Effort will be 50% teaching, 40% research, and 10% departmental service. This position will be a 9-month appointment. We seek a broadly trained archaeologist with biological expertise who can teach courses in archaeology and biological anthropology and whose research interests incorporate bioarchaeology, mortuary analysis, human variation, health and disease, diet, or similar areas. The successful candidate will develop an active applied public archaeology research program that engages contemporary communities and cultural heritage complementing existing departmental archaeological and biological research interests. Geographic and temporal expertise in post-contact North America is preferred but not required.

A PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology or a related discipline is required at time of appointment.
