Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in biological anthropology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning 08/01/2024. A Ph.D. in Anthropology (or a Ph.D. in a closely related field with significant experience in Anthropology) is required. Candidates who are ABD at the time of application will be considered, but candidates must have degree in hand by June 1, 2024. We seek a biological anthropologist with a specialty in human biology, past and present, and with experience in the ethical curation of human skeletal materials. We are interested in candidates whose work explores critical contemporary issues in anthropology and aligns with department needs and university strategic goals, and whose areas of expertise complement or expand on those of existing tenure-stream faculty.
