Assistant Professor Biological Anthropology
The Department of Geography and Anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position in biological anthropology at the rank of Assistant Professor for appointment beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year. Minimum Qualifications: – Ph.D. in anthropology or closely related fields from an accredited university at the time of appointment – Evidence of potential for excellence in university teaching (please send teaching evaluations, if available) – Evidence of research and scholarly potential (e.g., publications, conference presentations, grant development) – Evidence of ability to work with and mentor a diverse student population (e.g., advising, student club involvement, independent study supervision) – Ability to teach courses in biological anthropology and areas of specialization
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: – Specialization in anthropology of health/medicine, with bio-cultural focus – Potential for applied focus in research and/or teaching – Regional area of focus open – Willingness to develop a local research project and include undergraduate students – Willingness to conduct fieldwork or applied community projects with students.
