Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology, beginning Fall 2016.

Potential areas of specialization include, but are not limited to: developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD), life history and nutrition, the microbiome, human plasticity (developmental plasticity, neuroplasticity, epigenetics), human sexuality and reproduction, and human adaptability. We are particularly interested in individuals who conduct field-based, interdisciplinary research integrating biological data within an ecological and social context. The successful applicant will show a strong record of research, publication, and the potential to obtain external funding. Geographic area is open.

Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses as required by the department, develop courses within their own areas of specialization, and mentor M.A. students. Our department strongly encourages a four-field approach to anthropology and the engagement of undergraduate and graduate students in on-going research.
