Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology

Purdue University Department of Anthropology invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology to begin August 2015. We seek candidates specializing in human biology research focused on contemporary human populations that complements but does not duplicate the work of current faculty. A Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related discipline is required. Areas of interest include but are not limited to human biology, human biological diversity, nutrition, health, aging, endocrinology, life history, human genetics/epigenetics, microbiome. Individuals working with underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

We seek applicants with an excellent record of scholarly publications and funding, teaching experience, and an active research agenda. The position will require conducting original research, undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring, as well as participation in departmental and university administrative activities. An ability to link to Purdue programs or centers addressing society’s grand challenges is preferred (e.g., interdisciplinary studies programs in the College of Liberal Arts or University Centers for Aging and the Life Course, Research on Diversity and Inclusion, The Environment, Ingestive Behavior Research Center, and Discovery Park). Evidence of strong teaching skills is desired. Potential courses include introductory, advanced, and graduate courses in biological anthropology, nutrition, health, quantitative and/or laboratory methods, and specialty courses in the candidate’s research area.
