The Division of Human Anatomy, Department of Radiology, Colleges of Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU) seeks an enthusiastic faculty member to aid in fulfilling its mission of providing quality human anatomy instruction to pre-health professional students. The new faculty will join a multi-disciplinary teaching team in delivering a systems-based human anatomy course to a diverse population of approximately 500 undergraduate students each Fall and Spring semester. In addition to assuming co-leadership of this course, it is expected the new faculty will provide lectures in the large group setting, develop and facilitate active learning activities, and create digital content for guided independent learning. It is further expected the new faculty will take leadership of and implement an undergraduate human anatomy laboratory course utilizing prosected human cadavers. Additional responsibilities of the position include participating in the delivery and laboratory instruction of human gross anatomy in the Colleges of Osteopathic and Human Medicine of Michigan State University at their East Lansing and satellite campuses.
Educational qualifications include a PhD degree in any human morphology-related basic science discipline, biological anthropology, kinesiology, or a health professional degree (MD, DO, DDS, DVM, DPT). The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, prior experience teaching undergraduate courses with large enrollments, be familiar with principles of adult education, and have either training or teaching experience in human gross anatomy. Familiarity with online course management systems and classroom engagement systems is strongly desired, as is training or teaching experience in neuroanatomy and/or neuroscience. Interest in pursuing scholarship in adult or medical education is also desired.
This is a 12-month, fixed-term (non-tenure-track) faculty position within the Division of Human Anatomy, Department of Radiology. Rank of appointment (Assistant or Associate Professor) and starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
