The Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a nine-month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor position in Biological Anthropology with specialization in Forensic Anthropology and/or Bioarchaeology. We have an Applied Anthropology program committed to promoting holistic perspectives, fostering community engagement, and creating and supporting a diverse faculty.

PhD in Anthropology is required. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be accepted, but the degree must be conferred by our appointment start date. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and interests in international forensic anthropology within human rights and humanitarian work such as tribunals and mass disasters. Research in quantitative and field methods and training and background in archaeology preferred. The successful candidate should be able to teach general anthropology, biological anthropology, bioarchaeology, osteology, forensic anthropology, forensic science and advanced biological anthropology courses. Candidates with an established record of successful grants will be preferred, particularly grants funded by the National Institute of Justice and/or the National Science Foundation. The candidate’s research interests and capabilities should align with and contribute to applied anthropology and the mission of the department’s Institute for Forensic Anthropology and Applied Science.
