Assistant Professor, Biological Anthropology

Applications are invited for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment in the area of Biological Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Social Science, Western University at the rank of Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2017. We are seeking a Biological Anthropologist with a focus on Bioarchaeology, studying the intersection of culture, biology and environment in the past using archaeometric methods. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in human skeletal analysis. These skills will allow the successful candidate to contribute to a strong department research program on ancient human societies, particularly in the Americas. The successful candidate will build on our department’s established strength in bioarchaeology, which we take in the broadest sense to include all biological components of the archaeological record. Our bioarchaeological approach cross-cuts traditional anthropological sub-disciplines and is built on synergies between archaeologists and biological anthropologists to produce dynamic externally-funded collaborative research.
