Assistant Professor, Forensic Biology/Forensic Molecular Anthropology

The Forensic Science Program at the University of Toronto Mississauga, currently administered in the Department of Anthropology, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Forensic Biology/Forensic Molecular Anthropology, to commence on July 1, 2018.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Forensic Biology or Molecular Anthropology with a forensic focus by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful applicant must also have a proven record of professional forensic activities as demonstrated by casework, court testimony, laboratory experience, or similar practices. Experience working in a forensic laboratory, or as an independent forensic consultant, or equivalent is also required. Candidates should also clearly indicate in the CV or cover letter any knowledge of Quality Assurance protocols and accreditation processes for forensic labs.

The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of excellence in both teaching and research in Forensic Biology or Forensic Molecular Anthropology. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. Evidence of excellence in research will be demonstrated by a record of publications in respected academic journals in the area of Forensic Biology or Forensic Molecular Anthropology, research that is at high international levels, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain an active, innovative, externally funded program of research and to contribute to the education and training of undergraduate students as well as graduate students enrolled in the tri-campus University of Toronto Graduate Program. The successful candidate will have an appointment either in the graduate program of the Department of Anthropology or Department of Cell and Systems Biology.

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
