Assistant Professor in Human Biology

The Department of Anthropology at Washington State University in Pullman invites applications for a full-time, 9-month academic appointment as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Evolutionary Anthropology beginning August 16, 2018. We seek a Human Biologist with an active research program in evolutionary theory, behavior, and health in living humans. Specialties may include, but are not limited to, immunology, endocrinology, nutrition, growth and development, reproduction, energetics, and epidemiology. The WSU Evolutionary Anthropology program has strengths in child development, cultural evolution, ecology, evolutionary medicine, evolutionary psychology, life history, and microbiome research. We are keen to acquire a faculty member who articulates well with our evolutionary anthropology faculty and complements our medical anthropology focus. Additionally, we seek someone who can capitalize on collaborative and interdisciplinary opportunities.

Job Duties: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in human biology and biological and evolutionary anthropology; conduct research with a specialization in evolutionary anthropological approaches to human biology and behavior; and service activities.

Job Requirements: Earned Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field completed by the date of hire; demonstrated research specialization in evolutionary anthropological approaches to human biology and behavior; active program of field and/or laboratory research with the ability to integrate and provide opportunities to graduate students; ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in human biology and biological and evolutionary anthropology.
