Assistant/Associate Professor of Anatomy

Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM) seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Anatomy for its Division of Biomedical Sciences, starting Fall 2017. The successful candidate will teach histology and anatomy within MU-COM’s integrated systems-based courses, as well as participate in the team-taught clinical and dissection-based medical anatomy course. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Biomedical Sciences. Position responsibilities include the following:

Teach clinical histology and anatomy in lectures, digital histology sessions and case-based instructional activities in the medical curriculum.
Use active learning techniques where warranted to increase student engagement in the educational process.
Join the anatomy instructional team to lead dissection/laboratory sessions.
Participate in curriculum development and build innovative educational programs as part of the COM”s ongoing quality improvement.
Participate in anatomy-related service activities.
Provide service to the University community and to the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Collaborate with COM faculty on scholarship, grants, and other pursuits.
Participate in research relevant to the candidate’s area of expertise.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean or his designee.

Ideal candidates must have knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Anatomy, Anthropology or an equivalent terminal degree, as well as teaching experience in a medical school level, clinically-oriented gross anatomy laboratory. An ability to teach neuroanatomy and/or embryology is considered advantageous. An interest in morphologic research or interests complementing the current anatomy faculty is considered a plus.
