The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in biological anthropology, to begin in August 2018. This position is one of three in a “health related social science” cluster hire in the College of Arts and Sciences, which the college expects will invigorate a vibrant and collaborative community of health-related research and teaching. Applicants should be biological anthropologists who utilize a biocultural approach in research with living human populations. Geographical area of expertise is open. We are particularly interested in candidates who are conversant in cultural anthropology and who use a biocultural approach with interests among the following: nutrition and food / hunger issues; child growth and development; social or environmental justice; global health; and health inequalities. We seek candidates who can further collaborations in medical anthropology and the Health, Society, and Populations undergraduate major within the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as with the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health, and with community partnerships. 

We seek applicants with an active externally funded research program, a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching, and evidence of effective teaching. Applicants should demonstrate ongoing or potential research projects that could include student involvement and advance students’ career opportunities. We actively seek candidates who can contribute to the department and university goals to diversify our faculty.
