Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California: Assistant / Associate Professor – Neuroanatomy

The Department of Integrative Anatomical Sciences (IAS) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the non-tenure Clinical track. The position will begin July 1, 2019 or shortly thereafter, and the applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the start of the appointment. The primary responsibility will be to fulfill the department’s obligation for continued excellence in teaching neuroanatomy with a clinical emphasis in an integrated medical curriculum; the ability to contribute to the teaching of dissection-based gross anatomy or histology is also highly desirable. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship in some area of functional morphology, vertebrate evolution, and/or biological anthropology, and will be expected to develop and maintain a productive research program with the potential to attract extramural funding. We are especially interested in applications from, but not limited to, researchers who emphasize aspects of craniodental and sensory systems in a functional, developmental, ecological and/or evolutionary framework. There are also ample opportunities for collaboration with faculty working in evolutionary morphology within IAS (Drs. Kristian Carlson, Michael Habib, Adam Huttenlocker, Kristi Lewton, Biren Patel, Erik Seiffert), and throughout USC as part of the Paleosciences Research Consortium (https://www.paleosciences.usc.edu/). Additionally, USC’s core resources in biomedical imaging and microscopy are available to enhance modern studies in the anatomical sciences. Interested applicants are invited to begin their inquiry with the IAS website (https://keck.usc.edu/integrative-anatomical-sciences/), and questions for more information can be addressed to Dr. Biren Patel via email (anatomy.usc@gmail.edu).

Applicants should prepare a full application that includes: a cover letter; a curriculum vitae; a statement of teaching experience; a statement of research/scholarly accomplishments, interests and future plans; and the contact information for 3-5 professional references including e-mail addresses. (Reference letters are not required at the time of application submission). The full application must be submitted electronically online through Careers at USC portal directly available at: https://usccareers.usc.edu/job/los-angeles/assistant-or-associate-professor-of-clinical-integrative-anatomical-sciences/1209/8642939. In addition to the formal online submission process, applicants must send an electronic copy of their submitted application materials (as a single PDF document) directed to the USC Neuroanatomy Search Committee, at: anatomy.usc@gmail.com. Applications should be submitted by September 21, 2018 to receive full consideration. The position will remain open until filled.
