The Paleoanthropology workgroup, Institute of Archaeological Sciences at the University of Tübingen offers a Ph.D. student position (E 13 TV-L, 60%)
The student position will commence as soon as possible and runs for 3 years.
Applicants for this position must hold a master’s or equivalent degree in paleoanthropology, physical anthropology, or a closely related field. The applicant should also be fluent in the English language (written and oral). The ideal applicant will have a knowledge of analysis methods related to dental anthropology, such as morphological analyses, dental-wear analyses, and dental hypoplasia analyses. Previous experience in working with human/hominin dentition is particularly desired. Familiarity with image processing software as well as multivariate statistics will be considered a plus.
The successful applicant will join a junior research group working on a DFG-funded project on diet and physiological stresses in Paleolithic non-adults. The selected candidate will work on the analysis of microwear and hypoplasia on fossil and recent/archaeological human dental remains/replicas as the major part of his/her doctoral project.
