The Department of Anthropology at Colorado State University invites application for the position of Assistant Professor in biological anthropology or related discipline to begin August 16, 2019. We seek an individual that employs evolutionary perspectives to broadly understand human diversity and adaptation with a preference for candidates whose research and teaching interests complement that of existing faculty. Qualified candidates will use genomic, environmental and/or other biological datasets to explore population dispersals and coalescence, genotype-phenotype interactions, clinical distributions, or paleo-ecosystem modeling. Required Qualifications:
• PhD in anthropology or related discipline at the time of appointment
• Research focus on human evolution, excluding those who limit their research to only hominin morphology, lithic analysis, and zooarchaeology
• Evidence for a promising record in scholarship/research
• Expertise to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate level biological anthropology courses
• Ability to mentor and/or integrate students into one’s research
Preferred Qualifications:
• Research with a spatial perspective on evolutionary questions
• Temporal foci on the Plio-Pleistocene and/or Holocene
• Ability to teach new courses on race, anthropological genetics and/or computational methods related to paleoenvironmental/niche modeling
